Eco by Tupperware.

I usually carry a bottle of water with me. For that purpose I use PET bottles that I buy and refill with tap water for a few days. But yesterday my mum gave me this eco by Tupperware bottle.

Easy Peasy Recipe: spinach lasagne.

I am most definitely no chef but I have learnt to cook for myself in the past three years or so. This is a recipe of a dish I had at a friend's house 2 years ago. I found the recipe again, but it didn't work out quite well. After a few more goes at the dish, I've managed to adjust it ever so slightly to fit my and my families taste.

Start to run update #3

Third update already!
In short: I went for three runs and had a well deserved weekend break.
For the longer version keep on reading.

DIY deodorant.

After finding out about aluminium in crystal deodorants, I made my own deodorant. Recipes can be found easily on the internet!
Here's how I made mine:

Currently Reading: The food hourglass.

On Wednesday I went into town and I had some spare time before my bus home would come. So I went into the bookshop without the intention of buying anything. But I wouldn't be writing this if I hadn't bought a book right. I got myself a copy of the popular book 'The food hourglass'.

Start to run update #2

So it's one week later again, and I'm still running!
Last time around I wrote about my speculations on how my caffeine intake may affect how well the jogging goes. So I chose to limiting my caffeine intake for the week.

Crystal deodorant: safe to use?

A few years back I wanted to try a natural deodorant, since it is something I use every single day. So I got myself one of those crystal deodorants that you wet and then apply. I used it every now and then, but it was only two days ago that I started doubting its safety.

Start to run update #1

Two weeks ago, I wrote about the start to run programme I've been following to enhance my stamina. Here's an update:

Tuesday 7 January 2014

Toothpaste alternative: PerBlan tooth powder.

Last Saturday I went to a bio shop to get some lavender essential oil. Whilst browsing though the rest of the store I stumbled upon PerBlan tooth powder. It's a powder that serves as an alternative to toothpaste that made of natural ingredients and is eco-friendly.

Drinking aloe vera juice.

We all know we ought to eat enough fruit and vegetables (and other foods too!) in order to get our daily needed amount of nutrients. To give myself a little nutritional extra I tried drinking aloe vera juice.

Body care and cosmetics ingredients.

Whenever I buy body care products, I take a look at the ingredient list to figure out if there's anything in the product that I'd rather avoid. For example I try to avoid sulphates in shampoo or parabens in any type of product. But then again, if there aren't any sulphates or parebens in a product, doesn't mean there aren't any other irritating or potentially harmful ingredients in there. So what to use and what not to use?

Start to Run.

Endurance has never been a strength of mine. I absolutely abhor jogging, but as I could do with better stamina, I decided to follow the Start to Run programme.

It's a training schedule that takes you from 0 to 5K in just 10 weeks. I dug up my old trainers -they are 10 years and a bit old, but haven't been used all that much- and joined in at my sister's trips to the track three times a week. I'm currently in week 3 of the programme and so far so good!
Apart from building up stamina, running has other advantages such as better blood circulation and lower risk of heart disease.
If you'd like some more info on the programme or want to read their full list of advantages of doing sport, I recommend you take a look at www.start-to-run.com.

I'm not looking forward to the next lesson, because I'll have to run for 4 and 5 minutes for the first time!

Wish me luck!

Sinserely,
R.
